As outlined in the lesson video, the bankroll I like to have is a thousand times the minimum bet of the blackjack table I am playing at. I do not use the betting strategy to decide what my bankroll should be. Just the minimum bet.

I usually play tables that have a minimum bet of $50 or $100. This is because the game rules are generally more profitable than lower stake games and they do not use automated shufflers as much. You almost certainly will not be able to play this high of a game when you are starting out. You need to find the game sizes that your bankroll will allow and you will not feel too much pressure at.

If playing the $100 minimum bet blackjack game, I want to have at least a $100,000 bankroll.

If I was playing the $10 minimum bet blackjack game, I'd want to have at least a $10,000 bankroll.

The reason for a thousand times minimum bet is because there is still a chance even playing perfectly that I go broke, so I want to limit this. I estimate the chances are somewhere around 1-2 percent chance of bankruptcy. You could play the $10 minimum bet blackjack game with a $1,000 bankroll but risk of ruin would be over 10 percent. It is really depends on how much risk you can tolerate.

I am more conservative in recent times and stick to my bankroll and bet sizing plan. In the past, this wasn't the case and I want to tell a story that should act as a warning.

Back in 2016, I had been running really good for a few months. I was playing extremely aggressively. Then one session, the true count went to -5. I started playing extremely aggressively with 3 boxes open and 20 times minimum bet on each of them. That is 60 times the minimum bet on the table.

I lost $24,000 in about five minutes. I do not like to be results orientated but taking a hit to your blackjack bankroll this large can be devastating psychologically. I did not make mistakes during this session. Some times you get a bad run of cards even when you have an edge over the house. You need your bankroll and bet sizing in place for these times.

I accept there is a small chance I could go broke playing. That is the reality of being a blackjack card counter. This being said, I personally want to do everything I can to prevent it while giving myself the best shot of making money.

This is the final lesson in the learn a simple blackjack strategy course. You should now have enough knowledge on basic strategy , running count , true count, advanced strategy , betting strategy and bankroll management to become a card counter. You just need to practice! Good luck at the blackjack tables.
